To me, I see some similarities about the things people need in these 2 theories. For example, the idea of needing cultural security of Burton. Culture is something that eternal of a place or a country. It exists from people daily work and since they keep doing that, they see it as habits, other people consider it as culture. I think it is the same with spiritual communion. For example culture is very precious and it should be respected, secured and communed to link everybody together.
Some differences these 2 theories, I can see are freedom and interdependence. You can see that this two ideas are absolutely antagonistic. Burton wants freedom and Rosenberg need interdependence. I think each people have each resason but to me, I most like Burton's idea.
Know that people need a lot of things like Burton need freedom, but in some place like Africa, there is no freedom. Nowadays, there are still people in Africa who have to be slaves. They don't have the claim to deny being a slave, so that I think Burton idea is very necessary for those people in Africa.
Another realistic issue for the need of people is safety, security.It is also Burton's idea. In Nigeria, the Muslim rebels had killed 59 students by burning them. Clearly, you can see that those children are not safe enough in a civil war like this. Who knows if there will be even more and more children will be killed like that?
Finally, in my opinion, people demand a lot more than these ideas of those 2 theories. They need more, more and more so that they can have a better life with no fear and live healthily and happily.
